This project is a concept project.

I tried to work as in a real project so I decided to divide the process in 4 sprints.

The Research

I started by making a research about auiobooks and podcasts.
I decided that some of the characteristics I wanted were very close to various famous music platforms but I wanted also some characteristics of task management apps.

When I am starting a new project I am always looking for common characteristics with other apps or industries. This usually helps me understand better the user and the target audience in general. Also it makes it possible to identify some UX patterns.

Key Findings

SaaS products designed for audiobooks and podcasts provide content creators with a comprehensive platform to manage their audio content and engage with their audience.
These products usually offer a variety of features and tools that simplify the process of content creation, distribution, and analytics.

It seems that open folders are a UX pattern that works very good for the users. (Google Reviews, Trust Pilot e.t.c.)

According to recent studies, the global podcast listener base is expected to reach over 1 billion by 2023.

The global audiobook industry surpassed $3 billion in 2020, with a substantial growth rate projected for the coming years.

Surveys indicate that podcast listeners tend to be highly engaged, with an average listener tuning into an average of seven different shows per week.

Some notable competitors in this space include well-established platforms such as Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Amazon's Audible. These platforms offer a wide range of content and have amassed a significant user base. However, there are also specialized SAAS products dedicated specifically to content creators, providing them with advanced features tailored to their needs. These SAAS products focus on empowering creators with tools for content management, audience analytics, monetization, and community engagement.

Other industries with similar characteristics

While SAAS products for audiobooks and podcasts have their unique features, there are common characteristics they share with apps in other industries. For example, apps like Spotify and Apple Music emphasize personalized recommendations and curated playlists to enhance the user experience and keep users engaged. Similarly, SAAS products for audiobooks and podcasts often leverage algorithms to recommend content based on a user's listening history and preferences. .

Conclusion & Thoughts

During the project, I identified the specific needs of content creators, focusing on features that empower them to manage and distribute their content seamlessly. The user journey was at the heart of my design process, ensuring that creators could easily upload, organize, and share their audiobooks and podcasts with their audiences.

Given the constraints of an 8-hour project, I acknowledge that this case study represents only the initial phase of the app's design. To transform it into a fully functional and polished product, additional hours of design, development, and testing would be required.
